"Just
the knowledge that a good book is waiting one at the end of a long day
makes that day happier."
~Kathleen
Norris (1880-1966)
A little about me. Although I was born in Los Angeles and grew up near
San Diego, I was lucky enough to come to the Northwest in 1961 to attend
the University of Washington, and have been here since then. I love to
travel, but I'm always happy to come home to this beautiful part of the
world.
After I received my B.A. in English literature from UW, I spent a year
in New York City studying merchandising and then returned to Seattle, where
I worked in retailing for many years. I was also a professional landscaper
for a brief time, but when my daughter, Margo, started kindergarten I returned
to school too. I received my teaching certificate from Seattle Pacific
University in 1987, and began teaching at Adna in the fall of 1989.
Since I've been at Adna I've built a new home in the Boistfort Valley,
coached the Knowledge Bowl and Spelling teams, helped develop the Senior
Project, been Senior Class Advisor, and served on the committee that
implemented our Sustained Silent Reading Program. I completed my Master's
in Education and Literacy through Lesley College, in March of 2000.
