41Title I, Part A is a federal program designed “To provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.”  Both Adna Elementary School and Adna Middle/High School operate as Targeted Assistance buildings for struggling students.

Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is a Washington state funded program to provide additional academic assistance in English Language Arts and Math for those who qualify.  The intent is for LAP students to increase academic growth during the period of time they are provided services.

Struggling students who show through multiple assessments that they are below grade level and are not meeting standards on the Smarter Balanced Washington State assessments are considered for either Title 1 or LAP services.  These services at both schools may be provided through support in the classroom or a small pull-out group during the school day. Adna Middle High School also offers before school or after school assistance as well as a Study Hall class. LAP and Title 1 emphasize research-based best practices designed to increase student achievement.
Parent involvement in each student’s learning is a key component to success.  Conferences and Parent/Family Nights are one way to be involved in your student’s success along with your support at home.

The Title 1 and LAP programs are evaluated annually in the fall and spring.
